Buffalo Nylon Threaded Rod - Bluemay Ltd
Nylon Threaded Rod

We are a Specialist UK Manufacturer of Nylon Threaded Rod

Bluemay Nylon Threaded Rod is manufactured from nylon 6.6, one of the hardest and strongest grades of engineering plastic.

One of the primary benefits of nylon threaded rods is their remarkable strength-to-weight ratio. Despite being lightweight, they possess impressive load-bearing capacity. This makes them ideal for applications where weight is a critical factor, such as aerospace and automotive industries. Additionally, nylon threaded rods are non-conductive, making them suitable for electrical applications where safety is paramount. Their resistance to corrosion ensures longevity, even in harsh environments. Our nylon threaded rod can withstand temperatures as low as -30oC.

Our UK manufactured plastic threaded rod is also available in polypropylene and acetal. Isometric coarse threads to DIN 975 available as standard.

What is Nylon Threaded Rod?

Nylon threaded rods are versatile components utilised for suspending, stabilizing, mounting, and securing various structures. These rods feature threading along their entire length and are available in numerous sizes and thread configurations. They are also referred to as all-threads, studding, or booker rods.
Many Sizes Available

Isometric coarse threads to DIN 975: M3, M4, M5, M6, M8, M10, M12, M16 and M20.

Nylon threaded rod also available in Imperial BSW, BSF, BSP size from ¼” to 1″ and in American UNC, UNF size from ¼” to 1″.

Cut to Any Length

Our nylon threaded rod is produced in metre lengths as standard however can easily be cut to size. Alternatively, we can supply nylon threaded rod studs to your desired length - 50mm is the shortest. Longer than 1 metre can be made to order.

Outstanding Quality

All nylon 66 rod is checked for cracks and inclusions and tensile strength is accurately controlled. The raw material is tested and more critically controlled than commercial grades of nylon.

Nylon Threaded Rod FAQs

A nylon threaded rod is a type of fastener made from nylon, a strong and durable synthetic polymer. It has threads along its entire length, allowing nuts and other fasteners to be screwed onto it easily. These rods are known for their high mechanical strength, corrosion resistance, and electrical insulation properties. They are also referred to as all-threads, studding, or booker rods.

Nylon threaded rods are available in a variety of metric and imperial sizes. Common metric sizes range from M3 to M30, while imperial sizes range from 1/4" to 1". They typically come in lengths of 1 metre (metric) or 3 feet (imperial).

Nylon threaded rods are used in various applications due to their versatility and durability:

  • Construction: For stabilizing structures and fastening components.
  • Manufacturing: As components in machinery and equipment.
  • Automotive: For non-conductive and corrosion-resistant fastenings.
  • Plumbing: In applications where corrosion resistance is critical.
  • Marine: In environments exposed to moisture and salt where metal fasteners would corrode.

Nylon threaded rods offer several advantages:

  • Corrosion Resistance: Unlike metal rods, nylon rods do not corrode when exposed to moisture or chemicals.
  • Electrical Insulation: Nylon provides excellent electrical insulation, making it ideal for use in electrical and electronic applications.
  • Lightweight: Nylon is significantly lighter than metal, which can be beneficial in applications where weight is a concern.
  • Impact Resistance: Nylon rods have good impact resistance and can withstand significant stress without breaking.

Yes, nylon threaded rods are suitable for outdoor use due to their resistance to moisture, UV radiation, and various chemicals. However, they should be used within their specified temperature and load limits to ensure longevity and performance.

Nylon threaded rods can be easily cut to the required length using standard cutting tools such as hacksaws or rotary cutters. After cutting, it is recommended to smooth the edges to prevent fraying and ensure that nuts can be threaded on easily.

While nylon threaded rods offer many benefits, they do have some limitations:

  • Temperature Sensitivity: Nylon can soften or deform at high temperatures, so it should not be used in high-heat environments.
  • Load Bearing: Although strong, nylon rods do not have the same load-bearing capacity as metal rods, so they may not be suitable for very high-stress applications.
